Course Description

Certificate 3 in Hospitality provides a distinctive learning experience to participants through a combination of knowledge and practical skills that are highly valued and recognised by the industry in the field of hospitality and tourism operations. As part of the programme, students practice their skills and acquire field experience at different establishments in the hospitality industry of the Maldives. The programme provides basic knowledge and competencies necessary to start a career in hospitality operations and serves as an entry route to higher qualifications for those who wish to advance their knowledge and skills in the field of hospitality and tourism studies. The Core Employment Skills module in this course develop a professional attitude and increases confidence and readiness for the workforce. This module will provide students with an understanding of the basic requirements for employment as well as the skills they will need for the workplace. The professional certificates and the First Aid and Life Saving qualifications included in the program, are common requirements for the industry. The qualifications will allow these individuals to procure gainful employment and give them a head start in their professional development. As part of the Standard Operating Procedures in Hospitality Operations module, the students are required to complete daily tasks (Practical Application) during their training. The team tasks involve keeping the classrooms and student areas clean, taking care of training equipment and other routine chores at a hotel. Each day, a different student from the class is assigned as Team Leader, and all students are continuously appraised for teamwork, leadership, planning and organising abilities.
